SUMMARY:Trail Cleanup Workshop Day
DESCRIPTION:Join the Friends of the Rugby State Natural Area for a fresh look at the Allerton Ridge Trail where we’ll mostly be clearing up any newly fallen limbs and checking trail conditions. Travis Bow will be here to — weather permitting — help us work on a new section of the trail by cutting into the bank to level and widen the path\, plus pruning roots and other obstructions. Travis will bring heavier tools for the digging. Dress for the hopefully warmer weather\, wear hardy shoes or boots and bring lopers\, hand trimmers\, gloves and water if possible. (This won’t involve time in a creek\, like the January work day pictured here on Laurel Branch Trail.) No registration needed. Just show up at the Rugby Visitor Centre at 10 a.m. Eastern and we’ll go from there. Winter trails are great with great views and no bugs! WE’LL POST IT HERE IF WEATHER FORCES A CHANGE IN THIS WORKSHOP. \n \nTravis Bow\, right

The winning team is determined by the fewest number of throws to complete the course. \nSt. Patrick’s Day attire is invited and encouraged. You can purchase your Rugby Irish Road Bowling T-shirt printed by the volunteers of Rugby Screen Printers Guild at registration. \nFood trucks will be in the Village for Saturday’s festivities to keep you nourished: Mimi’s Empanadas\, Taco Bros.\, Curbside Kitchen\, MoCo Brewing Project\, Squeeze Me Southern Lemonade. SUMMARY:Irish Road Bowling on Rugby Parkway
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a FREE outdoor participant/spectator game of Irish Road Bowling right in the middle of Rugby on slightly traveled Rugby Parkway. Teams form as the game starts\, depending on who is there. All ages! Takes about one hour on the route used.  Play or just watch as the game proceeds west\, then east. We yell “CAR” to clear the pavement if one approaches. Starting point is the Historic Rugby Print Shop\, or near it. This involves tossing an iron ball down the road\, with the team making it back to the finish (also start) in the fewest throws being declared that day’s CHAMPIONS and getting their picture on Historic Rugby’s Facebook page! A sooty trophy (survived Harrow Road Cafe fire in 2020) is held in the photo — and much fun is experienced by all. (Visit YouTube to see how it’s played in Ireland. We don’t bet on the outcome like they do. Our teams are very amateur/impromptu!) START TIME FOR TEAM PICKS IS 6 p.m. EASTERN\, or 5 Central for those coming across the nearby bridge from Fentress County\, and 5 p.m. Eastern on June 27 only.
