The Bloom Stage, in collaboration with Poetry in the Boro, is thrilled to announce its inaugural event at Historic Rugby’s Rebecca Johnson Theatre on September 21, 2024. Titled “Diptychs, Doubletakes, and Doppelgangers: The Power of Two in Our Stories,” this live, multi-genre show promises an evening of storytelling, poetry, live music, and art.
The show starts at 7:00 PM Eastern Time, and will explore the dualities inherent in human experience—love and hate, past and present, light and dark, and many more. From sweet and sour to his and hers, the program invites audiences to delve into the richness of these contrasts and comparisons through the creative expressions of established and emerging artists. “As a part time resident in Rugby, I am beyond excited to bring this show to my home village, celebrating the diverse narratives that unite us,” said Kara Kemp, founder and co-producer of the Bloom Stage. “This collaboration with Poetry in the Boro underscores our commitment to fostering community through art.”
The show will be hosted at Historic Rugby’s Rebecca Johnson Theatre, located at 1331 Rugby Parkway, Rugby, TN, inside the Visitor Centre. Following the performance, attendees are invited to enjoy libations and light refreshments, continuing the evening’s celebration of artistic expression. Admission to the event is free, thanks to a generous grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission and Historic Rugby. Donations are encouraged to support Historic Rugby’s preservation efforts. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. “Participating in the arts–whether as an audience member or as a performer–nurtures our human connection,” said Kory Wells, founder of Poetry in the Boro. “The creative initiatives that Kara and I direct have been serving and building communities in Murfreesboro since 2016. We’re grateful and delighted that the support of the Tennessee Arts Commission and Historic Rugby is allowing us to expand our creative circle beyond middle Tennessee and onto the Cumberland Plateau.
