Eric Wilson Memorial Hike
March 17 @ 12:15 pm - 2:15 pm EDT
Join the Friends of Rugby State Natural Area for a free guided hike in honor of the late Eric Wilson, who helped build many of Rugby’s trails & whose birthday was March 17, St. Patrick’s Day. Meet 12:15 p.m. at the Historic Rugby Visitor Centre, 1331 Rugby Parkway. No registration required.
Eric was a retired math professor who built his own house in Rugby and lived here for years. He edited a weekly community newsletter and was great — with his math skills — at dominoes and bridge games played regularly by Rugby residents. Winter into spring is a great time to go hiking…no bugs! We’ll take hikers along trails Eric helped build and maintain.
Bring a daypack, water and snacks to eat on the trail. These are is a 2-4 mile, moderate but family-friendly hikes. Dogs on leash are welcome. Wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather.
After the hike, take some time to stroll around the historic town site. Bring a picnic, or visit RM Brooks Store for lunch!
