Hidden Trails: Hike Rugby!

March 28 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm EDT

Rugby volunteers will lead multiple hikes of various lengths along our 10 trails around Rugby on March 28 and 29 mornings and afternoons. Meet at the times and places below (we are Eastern time) to pick a trail. No registration required. Dress for the weather including comfortable hiking shoes/boots, bring water, a hiking stick if you have one and bug spray. (More details here)

March 28 @ 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EDT
Rugby volunteers will lead two morning hikes: an easy one-mile walk along the Massengale Loop Trail and approximately 4.5 miles of the “Hike Around Rugby” along the Massengale, Allerton, Historic and Laurel Branch Trails, ending in Beacon Hill. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 10:00 a.m. Eastern. No registration required. Dress for the weather including comfortable hiking shoes/boots, hiking stick or poles, bug spray, water and snacks. Hikers continuing on the afternoon half of “Hike Around Rugby” should bring lunch for a rest break in Beacon Hill.

Rugby volunteers will lead the second half of “Hike Around Rugby,” approximately 4.5 miles on Hughes, White Oak, the Link, Cox Branch, and Allerton Trails, returning to the Visitor Centre via Massengale Trail. For the afternoon hike only, join the group at 149 Luton Street at 1:30 p.m.  EDT. No registration required. Dress for the weather including comfortable hiking shoes/boots, hiking sticks or poles, bug spray, water and snacks.
March 29 @ 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EDT
Join Historic Rugby Board Chairperson and avid hiker Stephen McClure to hike the Gentlemen’s Swimming Hole – Meeting of the Waters Trail Loop, 2.3 miles. Meet at the Gentlemen’s Trail Head at the end of Laurel Branch Cemetery Rd. at 10 a.m. EDT. No registration required. Dress for the weather including comfortable hiking shoes/boots, hiking stick or poles, bug spray, water and snacks.
March 29 @ 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. EDT
Join Rugby State Natural Area stewardship ecologist Travis Bow to walk the .85 mile Kellogg’s Crack Loop Trail. Meet at the Visitor Centre at 2 p.m. EDT to car pool to the trailhead off Highway 52. No registration required. Dress for the weather including comfortable hiking shoes/boots, hiking stick or poles, bug spray, water and snacks.
