Third Saturday Hike w/Holly Taylor

Join the Friends of Rugby State Natural Area for a free guided hike each month on the third Saturday. Fall into winter is a great time to go hiking…fewer then no bugs! NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED. This hike will be guided by Holly Taylor, state area interpretive ranger for TDEC, and very knowledgeable about our flora & fauna! More about Holly below.
These free guided hikes are scheduled for the third Saturday of each month and start from the Historic Rugby Visitor Centre Porch (1331 Rugby Parkway, Rugby, Tennessee 37733) at 10 a.m. (Eastern Time). Leaders will be either local, from Friends of the Rugby State Natural Area, or from the state Department of Conservation.
Bring a daypack, water and snacks to eat on the trail. These are is a 2-4 mile, moderate but family-friendly hikes. Dogs on leash are welcome. Wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather.
After the hike, take some time to stroll around the historic town site. Bring a picnic, or visit RM Brooks Store for lunch!

Holly Taylor got her start with Tennessee State Parks as a Seasonal Interpretive Ranger in 2006, working six years at Edgar Evins State Park before working as a wildlife presenter for the Natural History Education Company of the Mid-South. She took time off to stay at home with her son before returning to TN State Parks as the assistant to State Naturalist Randy Hedgepath in 2018. She graduated from TTU in 2009 with a B.S. in Conservation Biology and also serves as the chapter coordinator for the Cummins Falls State Park Chapter of the Tennessee Naturalist Program. She has a life-long passion for the natural world and loves nothing more than sharing that passion with others.
